Chemicals and gas
The Safety Challenge is for you!

"The mark you give contributes to our drivers’ evaluation". This was one of the rules of this year’s Safety Challenge, which has just started for Geodis BM’s 335 chemicals and gas drivers. With awards for the top achievers, this fun contest aims to reduce accidents by 25%.

Starting in July, the services of the 335 Geodis BM drivers specialising in bulk and conditioned gas transport in Italy, the Netherlands and France are being evaluated once again in the framework of the 2011 Gas Safety Challenge. The principle involves making teams of drivers compete with each other and rewarding the best.

The operation involves first monitoring the performance of each team – assigned to the same service – taking into account road accidents (whether or not they are responsible for them) and workplace accidents (with or without time off). At the end of the operation, which ends in December, customers will also give a mark to each team on the basis of their own observations in the field concerning the wearing of protective equipment, compliance with instructions on site, etc.

The opinion of our customers – the ten major names in the gas sector such as Messer, Air Liquide, Linde, Air Products, Antargaz and Vitogaz – is therefore crucial, and they have shown that they support the operation wholeheartedly. "The process is particularly appreciated for being transparent and efficient!", says Marc Vollet, Geodis BM Operations Manager.

25 to 30% fewer accidents!
In the past, each Challenge has led to a 25 to 30% reduction in the number of work accidents and that is what we are aiming for once again this year. Created in 2005, when it became clear that regulations and training were having limited effect, the Challenge offers an additional source of motivation for drivers. The stakes are all the more important as Geodis BM’s gas activity has been constantly expanding over the past two years, involving around a hundred new specialised drivers, all duly trained in accordance with the company’s standards.

This action once again demonstrates Geodis BM’s determination to build genuine partnerships with its customers, following the launching of its perceived quality procedure and the incident traceability campaign.
