DISTRIBUTION OPERATIONS
The time-saving interface

In developing an interface between its information system and Winroute, a route optimisation tool, Geodis BM is boosting its ability to calculate and prepare distribution operations.

Geodis BM has just developed an interface between its Transport Management System (TMS), called Zenith, and Winroute, one of the best route optimisation tools on the market.

The traffic data entered into the TMS – TO, delivery addresses, customer site opening times, etc. – are exported automatically to Winroute, which guarantees the pertinence of the grouping, transport plan and resources mobilised. In return, the packing lists produced by the powerful computer are transferred – still automatically – to the pairing schedules and shipping orders in Zenith.

Applying to several customer files
Thanks to the creation of this interface, Geodis BM has boosted its ability to calculate distribution operations. This solution is already used by the design office on complex tender invitations, and can now be applied in production, to several customer files.

The time saved by this innovation helps us improve our quality of service. Freed from repetitive data entry tasks, operators can now focus on more critical operations such as managing last-minute TOs or making urgent trade-offs.

It was all the easier for Geodis BM to develop the interface as the TMS was developed entirely in-house, as Thierry Aubry, project manager in the ISD reminds us: "We can modify our system architecture in line with our needs."
